The coalition and the Yemenis' battle against Iran's arm... a decisive role in confronting lies and misinformation
English - Monday 16 January 2023 الساعة 08:24 am"Yemen is suffering from a Houthi militia coup and from Saudi-Emirati occupation and tutelage," with these phrases the Brotherhood activist Tawakkol Karman tries to describe the situation in Yemen in a speech during a conference organized by her foundation at the weekend in Washington.
The description given by Karman was not new, but was an echo of a rhetoric that she and her group and a stream of forces and personalities loyal to her have repeated over the past years against the Arab coalition and its role in Yemen, which was launched in March 2015 at the request of former President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
The request came hours after the Houthi militia managed to take control of the capital, Aden, in which Hadi sought refuge, fleeing from Sanaa, which fell into the hands of the militia in September of 2014 AD, so that one of the leaders of Iran issued a statement announcing the fall of the fourth Arab capital under the control of the arms affiliated with his country.
A scene that represented a violent shock at the time that shocked the Yemenis and their elites, some of whom rushed to leave Yemen to escape the grip of the Houthis, led by Karman, who tweeted that day on her social media pages, warning the Gulf states by saying: "Sana'a is the fourth Arab capital occupied by Iran, Riyadh will be the fifth and Dubai the sixth." ".
And before former President Hadi took the initiative to request Arab intervention from the Saudi leadership in late March 2015, Karman had preceded him a week with a video in which she appeared appealing to the Gulf states and asking them to intervene immediately in Yemen, and even threatened them with the Houthi advance towards them in the event of not responding to her request for intervention.
Karman's appeal at that time to the Gulf states to intervene was nothing but a sincere expression of the Yemenis' feelings of their need for Arab support to support them in steadfastness against Iran's complete swallowing of Yemen by the Houthi militia, which invaded cities from Saada in the north to Aden in the south.
An invasion with which the ability of the popular resistance to withstand the Iranian militias has become very costly, given the huge stockpile of weapons in the hands of the militias, in addition to the unlimited Iranian support through ports and airports, in addition to its use of the air force, which gave it military superiority.
The scene changed completely with the announcement of the formation of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia in late March 2015 and the military intervention, to turn the scales completely, and in just one year more than 70% of Yemeni lands became liberated from the Houthi militia backed by Iran. After the coalition countries, specifically Saudi Arabia and the UAE, threw their military and political weight in favor of legitimacy.
With the advent of the second year, the scene in Yemen began to move towards another path, with the Muslim Brotherhood and its allied forces, or what has come to be called the "war mafia", beginning to control the decision of legitimacy and harness it in its favor, and turn the battle into an opportunity for enrichment and profit, while blackmailing the coalition to proceed with this. The path, by holding him responsible for the absurd and disastrous performance of the legitimacy.
The blackmail policy practiced by the "war mafia" against the coalition gradually focused the attack against one of the coalition's parties, specifically the UAE, and avoided talking about Saudi Arabia, in its attempt to create a rift within the coalition leadership by talking about an Emirati role and a Saudi role. Rather, they sometimes promote allegations of a struggle between them over influence in the liberated areas.
With the failure of these attempts, the "war mafia" escalated its rhetoric against the coalition to the extent that its rhetoric matched that of the Houthi group during the past four years, after its symbols began to describe the role of the Arab coalition in Yemen as occupation.
The negative role played by the "war mafia" system within the legitimacy and against the coalition, caused great damage to the battle of the Yemenis against the Houthi militia, which entered a stage of stalemate, especially on the fronts in the north, leading to its fall into the hands of the militias in the years 2020-2021 , which brought back memories of the scenes of 2015.
Perhaps the greatest damage caused by the role of this system is working to create conviction among the international community of the failure of the military option against the Houthi group, which doubled the volume of pressure against the coalition countries with the need to stop the war in Yemen and reach a political settlement with the Houthi group, and to make all concessions to it in order to This is what happened in the negotiations to reach the armistice agreement.
A political settlement that will end any direct role of the coalition in Yemen, and leave the Yemenis north and south in front of the Houthi group with all its military power, support and Iranian expertise, which means a practical handover of Yemen to Iran, as happened about 8 years ago.
