Aden, NewsYemen:
House of Representatives Speaker Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani called on the international community to intensify pressure on the Houthi militia and Iran to deal unconditionally with regional and international peace initiatives.
Al-Barakani said during his meeting with the French ambassador to Yemen, Jean-Marie Safa, that the Houthi militia’s continued military escalation in Marib undermines all peace efforts and opens the door for all other options to confront it militarily in order to comply with peace and stop its war and violations against the Yemeni people, as he put it.
He pointed out that the militia continues to obstruct all regional and international peace efforts and initiatives, the most recent of which is the Saudi initiative to achieve peace and the efforts of international and American envoys to Yemen, according to the "Saba" agency.
The Speaker of Parliament accused the Houthis of continuing to trade in the humanitarian situation, and said that they are "the primary reason for its aggravation and reaching this point, and they are trying to outbid the international community through the humanitarian file."
In turn, the French ambassador wished to stop the fighting in Marib and spare the Yemeni people the scourge of wars and to take peace options through the negotiation table and in accordance with international resolutions.
He also wished for peace to be established in all Yemeni lands and to see all Yemenis heading to address all political and economic problems and end the suffering of the Yemeni people.
