Aden, NewsYemen, special:

Frequently, the Brotherhood in Yemen continues, through its leaders, activists, and media, to fabricate allegations and lies to attack the Emirati role, the most recent of which was allegations of selling Yemeni gas to Germany by the UAE.

These allegations came against the background of a statement by German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, last Monday, in which he suggested that Chancellor Olaf Scholz would likely sign an agreement to import liquefied natural gas from the United Arab Emirates during his upcoming Gulf tour at the end of this week.

Brotherhood activists on social media were quick to promote that the reality of the agreement is to sell Yemeni gas through the Balhaf facility to Germany, accusing the UAE of stealing Yemeni gas, under the allegations that the UAE “does not produce gas but rather imports it,” according to Brotherhood activist Tawakkol Karman.

These Brotherhood allegations are contradicted by several facts, on top of which is that the UAE is a gas exporter and ranked twelfth among the largest producers of liquefied natural gas in the world last year 2021 , with about 57 billion cubic meters.

According to a report by the Emirati newspaper, “Al-Bayan”, the UAE’s association with long-term contracts to export gas to several countries, most notably Japan, made the remaining quantities of gas production not meet the increase in domestic consumption, which prompts it to import gas to be the largest Arab importer of gas, as it imports 23  billion cubic meters annually.

The UAE plans to be self-sufficient in gas and export more quantities by 2030 as a result of the discoveries that took place in the past two years, which raised its rank to the fifth in the world with reserves estimated at 353 trillion cubic feet, while Yemen's gas reserves do not exceed 17 trillion cubic feet only.

Among the facts that contradict the Brotherhood’s allegations is that most of Yemen’s gas reserves were sold on long-term contracts with agreements concluded by the Yemeni government in 2005 with the French Total and Suez and the South Korean Kogas Company, which means that there are no possible quantities to sell to any party.

The Yemen Gas Company, which manages the Balhaf facility in Shabwa, from which gas is exported, has the largest share of French, Korean and American companies, about 79%, while the government’s share does not exceed 21%, which means that the decision to re-export Yemeni gas and sell it to these companies is not  of the Emirates.

It is noteworthy that these allegations come about a month after similar allegations of the Brotherhood accused the coalition, specifically the UAE, of seeking to restart the Balhaf facility to loot Yemeni gas for France, which indicates the extent of the lies that the group does not tire of repeating from time to time.

Yesterday, the statements of Dr.  Rashad Al-Alimi, speaking about Balhaf Gas, said that the Yemeni government had made contact and contact with the French company Total with the aim of re-exporting.

He pointed out that the efforts collided with French fears that the Houthis would bomb the facility with ballistic missiles, which responds to the Brotherhood's pile of lies about the control and control of the facility by the coalition forces, especially the UAE. The Brotherhood continues its blind incitement campaigns against Balhaf and the UAE.
