The terrorist Houthi militia has placed many conditions on the office of the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundoberg, in exchange for agreeing to discuss easing the siege on Taiz and opening some ports.
A member of the government team negotiating to open the ports of Taiz, Nabil Jamil, said in a press statement that the Houthi team announced its refusal to discuss opening the ports to Taiz and linking it to a set of conditions that he described as unfair and inhuman.
Jamil explained that the meeting scheduled for this week in Jordan is for the two military committees only regarding the armistice, its extension and violations. As for opening roads in Taiz only, the militia refused to discuss or negotiate it, linking this to other issues and demands.
He pointed out that the Houthi militia linked its acceptance to discussing its siege of Taiz with the payment of salaries, the complete opening of Sanaa airport, the entry of other transport companies, new airports, complete sovereignty over the airport and the entry of more ships.
The member of the government team expressed his great surprise at the strange acquiescence of the envoy’s office and the United Nations to all requests, stressing that since April, nothing has been achieved with the siege of Taiz and the opening of roads other than condemnations and briefings of the UN envoy that have not actually resulted in anything.
