Aden, NewsYemen:

The Islah Party - the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood - denied Thursday its responsibility for canceling the activities of the supporters of the Popular Congress in Taiz governorate, coinciding with the anniversary of the party's founding.

This came in a statement by an official source in the Islah party in Taiz governorate, which was published by the "Sahwa" newspaper, the organization's mouthpiece.

Although the Brotherhood’s Islah Party was involved in canceling the Popular Congress supporters’ festival, Islah did not find anything to prevent them from talking about the freedom of Taiz governorate and the movement of political parties, components and civil society organizations.

On Wednesday, a statement attributed to the People's Congress in Taiz announced the cancellation of a mass event for the party's supporters that had been scheduled for the fortieth anniversary of the party's founding.

The move reflected the Muslim Brotherhood's control over the decision of the leaders affiliated with the conference in the city of Taiz, as well as its exclusionary tendency towards the different other, a tendency that was multiplied by the militia's control of the city.

It is noteworthy that the Brotherhood prevents supporters of the General People’s Congress in Taiz from even mentioning the name of the party’s founder, the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, in the party’s activities that the Brotherhood sets themselves as guardians.

And earlier, the Brotherhood militia, in the city of Taiz, stormed an event hall of the General People’s Congress, because of the reference by the Vice President of the Congress branch, Abdulbari Al-Barakani, to the name of the martyr President Ali Abdullah Saleh, during his speech.
