Aden, NewsYemen:

Militia leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi refused, on Wednesday, to lift the siege on the city of Taiz (southwest of Yemen) while the Amman negotiations reached a dead end, while threatening a military escalation.

This comes in conjunction with the presence of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in Sanaa, who arrived on Wednesday, in an effort to persuade the Houthi militia to propose opening roads in Taiz and some provinces in accordance with the humanitarian truce.

In a video speech, the leader of the Houthi militia adhered to his group's vision of opening roads to Taiz, ignoring the proposal of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in this regard.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi acknowledged using the truce in order to "prepare the equipment" as a priority at this stage, and to develop the missile and drone system, and also hinted at a military escalation.

He declared his rejection of any settlements to crises at the regional level and the US and Western international peace efforts, claiming that they are aimed at "removing obstacles to Israel," according to him.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi also directed his militia leaders to adopt force in "confronting crises", which is an explicit order to suppress any voices demanding salaries or necessary services, in the group's areas of control in northern Yemen.
