Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman stressed that there is an important role for the United Nations to play in order to achieve peace in Yemen.

In his Twitter account, Bin Salman said, "I met in Washington with the US special envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking. We discussed the Yemeni issue and its developments, and I assured him of the support of the coalition led by the Kingdom of Yemen to the Yemeni Presidential Command Council and its supporting entities, and our aspirations that the Yemenis reach a comprehensive political solution, it moves Yemen to peace and development.

He added, "I also assured him that, despite the positiveness of the announced truce to a large extent, there is an important role that the United Nations and the international community must play to pressure the Houthi militias to open Taiz roads, deposit the revenues of the Hodeidah port, and seriously engage in peace efforts, so that Yemen can move  to security and stability.

Yemenis are looking forward to Jordan's meetings, under the auspices of the UN envoy to Yemen, to discuss lifting the siege on the city of Taiz, and opening the crossings to vehicles and citizens after an eight-year closure.

A government source said that the Houthis formed a team of their hard-line field leaders, with the addition of an unknown person from Taiz Governorate, excluding all of its "mutualist" allies, as he put it, who, over the past eight years, presented themselves as decision-makers in the group, including non-propaganda communications.  Official regarding the opening of the Taiz crossings.

The government official considered that the explicit disregard for Taiz’s investigators reflects a sectarian dimension, and that the reality of the war there is between “the army and the people of Taiz on the one hand, and the militia coming from outside the governorate” on the other hand, as he described it.
