Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

The Houthi militia, the arm of Iran, has been appointed, accused of embezzlement of public funds, as the Minister of Industry and Trade in its unrecognized government.

On Tuesday, Saba News Agency, in its Houthi version, published Resolution No. (20) of 2022, appointing Muhammad Sharaf Amir al-Din al-Mutahhar as Minister of Industry and Trade in the Sanaa government.

Activists circulated a document submitted by the Houthi Control, Transparency and Anti-Corruption Authority, to the Attorney General of Public Funds, confirming the embezzlement of the leader Muhammad Sharaf Amir Al-Din Al-Mutahhar, appointed as Minister of Industry and Trade, an amount of 26 million twenty-three thousand three hundred and seventy riyals, while he was serving as Deputy Director General of a company  Gas during the last period in violation of the law and civil service regulations, as it was not within the state's job cadre and did not move up the career ladder.

According to the document, according to the embezzlement case, he was referred to the Public Funds Prosecution, but the Public Prosecution did not take any action against him because he belongs to the Hashemite dynasty. Rather, the militia appointed him as Minister of Industry and Trade in its government, in a measure that contradicts its allegations of reform and construction within the hijacked state institutions as part of its plans to combat corruption.

This comes as confirmation of what was published by NewsYemen, quoting local sources, that the leadership of the Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, intends to make extensive changes in its unrecognized government.

According to the sources, most of the new appointments of personalities owe personal loyalty to prominent Houthi leaders, and it is likely that the majority of names were chosen, as usual, on the basis of dynastic affiliation.

The appointment of the Houthi leader, Muhammad al-Mutahar, as Minister of Industry and Trade coincided with the militia’s issuance of another Resolution No. 21 of 2022, appointing the dynastic leader, Abdul Wahhab Yahya Nasser al-Durra, as Minister of Transport in the militia government.
