Abyan, NewsYemen:

The parts under the control of Brotherhood forces from Abyan governorate have witnessed a major insecurity and the spread of extremist groups since their fall in August of 2019.

The governorate had witnessed a great improvement before that, after the Security Belt forces managed to purify it of terrorist groups that returned with the entry of Brotherhood forces.

Assassinations and kidnappings have been repeated in Abyan since the entry of Muslim Brotherhood forces, targeting leaders and soldiers in the security belt, as well as civil and political figures, and kidnappings of international organization employees have returned.

Last week, the militants of the organization kidnapped 6 employees of a UN organization in the area between the Directorate of Mudiyah and the city of Khedira, including two foreigners.

Brotherhood forces failed to liberate the kidnapped by military pressure or to pay the ransom demanded by the organization. Rather, they remained silent about the kidnapping, as if the matter did not concern them.

The Brotherhood forces did not go to war with the extremist elements in the governorate, despite the recurring terrorist operations, in broad daylight and in front of the eyes of this force.

The Brotherhood forces have not been subjected to any terrorist attacks since entering the governorate, while the terrorist organization’s fighters pass through their points to carry out their attacks that targeted the security belt forces in Lauder city, Ahwar district, and others.

Citizens in the province demanded that the Security Belt forces stationed in the city of Zanjibar, the provincial capital, be allowed to pass through Shaqra to secure the area, as it is the only honest force capable of eliminating these extremist groups.

The citizens indicated that these groups officially have camps, and everyone knows that, but the Brotherhood forces condone this and do not seem to have a problem with these groups, as the citizens of Abyan say.

Journalist Abdullah Al-Diyani believes that the kidnapping of UN officials by Al-Qaeda in Abyan proves that these areas controlled by Brotherhood forces have become easy for the organization and safe areas for it.

Al-Diyani tweeted on Twitter, “The kidnapping of international staff by Al-Qaeda in Abyan, which is controlled by the Brotherhood militias, proves that these areas have become easy for this organization and a safe area for it, with the protection of these militias.”

Al-Diyani indicated that this calls for the necessity of the deployment of southern forces there to secure them and expel those terrorist groups that impede the work of the United Nations.
