Saudi, US defense ministers discuss efforts to end war in Yemen

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin discussed, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, regional security, especially efforts to end the war in Yemen.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement that Austin had a phone call with bin Salman and they discussed ongoing bilateral efforts to improve Saudi Arabia's defenses.
Kirby added that Austin "referred to the recent successes achieved by Saudi Arabia in confronting the Houthi attacks on the kingdom" and thanked the crown prince for cooperating with the US special envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking to end the war in Yemen.
The US Secretary affirmed the United States' commitment to helping Saudi Arabia defend its lands and people.
