International oil companies resume business in Yemen

The Minister of Oil and Minerals member  in government, Abd al-Salam Baaboud, announced the return of international oil companies to production in his country, which has been suffering from the ravages of war since the Houthi coup in September 2014.

In an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Minister Baaboud said that major international companies specialized in oilfield services, including Bakeries and Schlumberger global companies, have resumed their activities in the country, and said that this is "an important indication of the beginning of an actual recovery for this vital sector."

According to the minister, the average production from the oil sectors in the country is about 55 thousand barrels per day, "work is currently underway to restore production in 5 sectors and export oil through the new pipeline, which means adding an estimated quantity between 20 thousand and 25 thousand barrels per day in the early stages of production."  .
