The Mansoura Court of First Instance, in its session today, headed by Judge Essam Salih Jazar, sentenced the accused, Hussein Muhammad Hussein Harhara, to death by firing squad, as a legal retribution for deliberately and aggressively killing the victim Haneen Ibrahim Salem Al-Bakri.
The reasoning for the ruling stated that the defenses and requests from the accused and his lawyers were accepted in form, and rejected in substance due to their lack of legality and relevance, according to what we indicated in the reasoning.
The court confirmed the conviction of the accused, Hussein Muhammad Hussein Harhara, on charges of attempted murder of the victim, Rawiya Ibrahim Salem Al-Bakri, mentioned in the indictment in the second clause, and she is punished by imprisonment for three years, as a general right, taking into account the application of the severest penalty.
The ruling also ordered the confiscation of the crime instrument, a Russian automatic weapon intended for the state treasury, and obliging the convict to pay the losses and attorney’s fees, an amount of one million Yemeni riyals, which was handed over to the father of the two victims.
The court granted the parties the right to appeal within the legal period of fifteen days, starting from the date of pronouncement of the verdict, announcing that the case file would be returned to the Public Prosecution Office to act in accordance with the law.
