The voices of Yemeni politicians and activists have increased, calling for the dismissal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in the legitimate government, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, against the backdrop of the crisis with Egypt, following his irresponsible statements regarding the status of the Renaissance Dam.

The dismissal demands came after dozens of Yemeni travelers were prevented, on Saturday evening, from entering Egyptian territory after their arrival on Yemenia Airlines Flight No. 601, in implementation of the new procedures that require medical reports issued by government hospitals in Egypt.

On March 20, the Foreign Minister, during his visit to Ethiopia and his meeting with his counterpart, made statements announcing Yemen's support for all the steps taken by the Ethiopian government in order to move the wheel of development, which Cairo interpreted as siding with Addis Ababa in its dispute with Cairo over the Renaissance Dam.

Despite the government's attempts to justify that the measures taken recently have nothing to do with Minister Ibn Mubarak's statements, the Egyptian parliamentarian, Mustafa Bakri, clarified the relationship of the statements to the new restrictions.

Bakri said, "The Yemeni people are a brotherly people who love Egypt, and the Yemeni people should not be blamed because of the position of the current Yemeni foreign minister."

In this regard, politician Lutfi Shatara stressed that provoking a country like Egypt, in light of the role of its wise leadership in alleviating the suffering of citizens in light of the war, is unacceptable and even totally rejected.  He said, "The Presidential Leadership Council must sacrifice a person better than sacrificing a people, exalt their suffering, and bear the humiliation they face as a result of foolish behavior," stressing the need for Ben Mubarak to resign or be dismissed.

In turn, the journalist, Fatah Al-Muharrami, criticized Ibn Mubarak's uncalculated visit to Ethiopia, pointing out that Ibn Mubarak recorded during it a Yemeni position in support of Ethiopia in its anti-Egypt policy.

He said, "This diplomatic failure requires, today, before tomorrow, the restructuring of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic representation abroad, which is one of the outputs of the Riyadh consultations," stressing that pressure must be exerted in this regard.

In the opinion of politician and journalist Riyad Ali Al-Ahmadi, the dismissal of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak needs a strong demand that forces the Western embassies that support him to abandon their support.

Activist and politician Nayef Abu al-Zaim al-Hadi also stressed the necessity of dismissing Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak, as well as dismissing his government and holding it accountable for the catastrophe that this minister caused between Egypt and our country.
