Sana'a, NewsYemen, exclusive:

A terrifying spread and spread of cancer, which continues to claim the lives of Yemenis, with the deliberate complicity of Houthis and the deliberate facilitation of the introduction of banned toxic pesticides, which contributed to the spread of the epidemic and the loss of control over it in Sana'a and its neighboring provinces.

The Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - disrupted the tasks and functions of the Cancer Control Fund, and plundered its revenues and operating expenses, which led to an increase in the number of cancer patients to 80,000 injuries, and 12,000 deaths, in addition to the registration of 9,000 cases annually added to the list of cancer patients since the year  2014.

Sources working in the health sector in Sana'a told (NewsYemen) that the introduction of carcinogenic agricultural pesticides into the ranks of the Houthi militia contributed to the spread of the epidemic, starting in Saada Governorate, and caused the emergence of various types of cancerous diseases, in addition to birth defects in fetuses and newborns.

The increasing number of cancer patients and cancerous tumors and the virtual health authorities’ loss of control over the epidemic prompted the House of Representatives in Sana’a to intervene, stressing the importance of (the Cancer Fund playing its role in accordance with the law of its establishment and providing the necessary support for cancer patients, whether related to examinations, provision of medicines, surgeries, etc.).

In a parliamentary session on February 6, 2023, the Sana'a Parliament called on the Ministry of Health there to quickly prepare a map of cancer (showing the location of the disease, its types, the time of infection, and the causes of spread...) with the aim of preventing the spread of the disease.

Like other state service institutions, the Houthi militia, since its coup in September 2014, has disrupted services, activities, projects, and units for combating and treating cancer diseases, including the Al-Jarda Oncology Center project, and the Adult Oncology Surgery Unit in the Cancer Control Fund.

Houthi trade in free medicines for incurable diseases

Despite its continued tampering with the school curriculum and making changes that incite hatred and violence and stir up sectarian and sectarian strife, the Houthi militia refuses to contribute to educating society through the media, and through school curricula designed for the purpose of introducing the importance of early detection of cancer, carcinogens, and practices that may lead to disease and how  avoid it.

Local and international organizations accused the Houthi militia of trading in expensive medicines and treatments provided free of charge by international organizations to Yemenis suffering from incurable diseases.  including cancer patients, and sell them on the black market in order to reap profits from them and multiply the suffering of patients.

The World Health Organization announced earlier that it had provided anti-cancer drugs to the National Oncology Center in Sana'a, sufficient to cover the acute shortage of medicines for 30,000 cancer patients for one year. The World Health Organization also provided two X-ray imaging machines to Al-Jumhouri Hospital in Sana'a and Al-Sadaqa Hospital in Aden.

According to the open data of the international organization, cancer affects all age groups in Yemen by 60% of those aged between 30 and 60 years.
