Aden, NewsYemen, exclusive:

The Presidency of the House of Representatives announced, on Saturday, the formation of a parliamentary fact-finding committee on a number of issues, on top of which is the Qishn port project in Al-Mahra governorate, following a campaign of incitement and attack against the project during the past days.

The Brotherhood, through media outlets and personalities loyal to it, in addition to components and personalities in Al-Mahra Governorate supported by the Omani regime in addition to the Houthi group - launched a fierce campaign against the project that was approved by the government during a meeting in late December with the "Egham" company.

The Presidency of the House of Representatives said that it had approved the formation of a committee consisting of 5 members of the parliament "to investigate the facts about the reported actions of some oil companies, as well as about the port of Qishn and the port of Nishtun, and to meet with officials in the Ministry of Oil and Minerals and the Ministry of Transport," according to the official news.

The media affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, in addition to the so-called “Peaceful Sit-in Committee” in Al-Mahrah, funded by Oman, launched an attack against the project, claiming that the company to which the project was assigned is an Emirati company, which was denied by the Ministry of Transport in an official statement to it, confirming that it is a Yemeni company specialized in energy and mining.  It holds licenses from all concerned authorities to establish and operate the port, which will be dedicated to mining.

The Brotherhood’s attack against the project and against the executing “Egham” company comes despite the fact that the approval of the project and with the same company took place about 3 years ago by the former Minister of Transport and loyal to the Brotherhood / Saleh Al-Jabwani.

In late April 2019, the official "Saba" agency published news of Al-Jabwani's signature, in the capital, Aden, with the Executive Director of the "Egham" Energy and Mining Company Limited, Dr. Muhammad Matash.  A memorandum of understanding for the establishment and operation of a berth for the export of limestone in the Ras Sherwin area, Qishn district, Al-Mahra governorate, under the BOT system.

The news of the "Saba" agency, which was reported by the Brotherhood's media at the time, explained that the project includes extending a seashore from several levels, including the construction of a 1,000-meter-long breakwater, and the construction of a 300-meter-long marine pier with a draft of 14 meters.

Al-Jabwani appeared in a television interview conducted with him by the Brotherhood's "Al-Mahreya" channel last week, trying to justify what he had done, as he claimed that the memorandum of understanding was signed between the company and the Arabian Sea Ports Authority, and that he accepted that to encourage investment and the government's need for the project economically to employ manpower, indicating that it is just a memorandum  Understanding only and it is a prelude to the agreement, and that the agreement needs the approval of the government and parliament.

Al-Jabwani's acknowledgment of his approval of the project undermines all allegations that the Brotherhood and entities affiliated with Oman in Al-Mahra governorate are trying to propagate against the project, and that it is nothing more than an attempt to confuse the scene in the liberated areas, according to observers.
