With hostile rhetoric against the coalition and the Presidential Council, Brotherhood figures launched, on Monday, the work of an international conference in Washington under the banner "Peace in Yemen."
The conference, which was organized by the foundation affiliated with the Brotherhood activist Tawakkol Karman, was limited to speakers in it to 5 Brotherhood personalities or close to it who have clear hostility with the role of the coalition in Yemen, and they are: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdel Aziz Jabari, former Minister of Transport Saleh al-Jabwani, and the former governor of Socotra Ramzi Mahrous, Issam Shuraim, member of the Shura Council, Khaled Al-Yamani, former foreign minister, in addition to Karman.
Karman, in her opening speech to the conference, focused clearly on attacking the coalition's role in Yemen and describing it as an occupation, while ignoring talk about the responsibility of the Houthi group in igniting the war in Yemen with the clear support of the Iranian regime, and talking about "Saudi Arabia and the UAE's war on Yemen."
The Brotherhood activist attacked what she called "the international community's continued support for the Saudi-Emirati coalition," and claimed that this "leads to the occupation of Yemeni islands and ports by Saudi Arabia and the UAE."
The same attack was repeated by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Abdulaziz Jabari in his speech at the conference, in which he referred to what he called "projects of fragmentation in Yemen fueled by regional countries," explaining that by saying that "Saudi Arabia and the UAE sought during the years of war to divide Yemen."
Jubbari reiterated what he had been raising for months of questioning and challenging the legitimacy of the Presidential Leadership Council, which was formed by a decision to transfer power from former President Hadi, where he clearly indicated in his speech that he did not recognize the Council, describing Hadi as the "president" and said that he was "removed in an unconstitutional manner."
Attacking the Presidential Leadership Council was also repeated by former Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Yamani in his speech, where he said that he "has not carried out any political or economic reforms since his appointment," attacking the coalition, by talking about the existence of "Houthi's dialogue with the coalition without the knowledge of legitimacy," saying that " It does not bode well for a radical solution to the Yemeni issue."
It was remarkable in the speech of these personalities that they avoided condemning the crimes of the Houthi militia, most notably their recent attacks on the oil sector in the liberated areas, in contrast to the position stated in the speech of the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, at the conference, who emphasized that "the Houthi attacks have exacerbated the crisis in Yemen."
