The Houthi militia forces merchants to deal with import companies affiliated with its leaders
English - Tuesday 10 January 2023 الساعة 09:13 amThe terrorist Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, is forcing wholesalers and owners of various companies and shops to deal with importers loyal to it in the context of its takeover of the private commercial sector.
Commercial sources in Sanaa told (NewsYemen) that the Houthi militia has practiced a policy of restricting all companies and importers who bring commercial goods from China to Yemen, and deliberately seizes their goods despite the importing companies completing the procedures and paying the fees imposed by the group in terms of taxes and customs at its outlets for the second time, with the aim of Forcing them to deal with import companies affiliated with the Houthi dynastic leaders.
The sources pointed out that the goods brought by the companies of well-known importers for decades have been held by the militia for about 6 months without any justification, which causes them to incur heavy losses and often leads to wholesalers and owners of companies and shops refraining from dealing with them again.
The sources noted that the militia is facilitating all procedures for entering goods for the new importer companies - owned by the Houthi dynasty leaders - without any delay in order to push wholesalers and shop owners to deal with them for the ease of their arrival on time.
According to the sources, the Houthi importers impose their conditions on merchants, most notably doubling the costs of transportation and import and immediate payment of "cash", unlike previous importers who used to sell goods to merchants and companies with two options (cash and credit) according to the financial situation of each merchant in the local market.
The sources considered these measures a continuation of previous steps within an organized process to control and take over the private sector, which is in its last breath, after dozens of companies and private commercial establishments declared bankruptcy as a result of the crimes and practices of Iran's arm.
An economic report issued by the Center for Studies and Economic Media, in June 2022, revealed the establishment of 1,023 commercial companies since the Houthi militia took control of state institutions more than seven years ago, owned by militia members and leaders in Sana'a, Saada, and Amran.
