He denied its existence.. Al-Houthi will not negotiate with the Yemeni government
English - Saturday 17 December 2022 الساعة 08:44 amThe Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, announced its refusal to dialogue with the internationally recognized Yemeni government, claiming that the latter "does not possess its decision."
This was stated by Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, head of the so-called "Revolutionary Committee" affiliated with the militia, during a meeting with political and local leaders loyal to the Houthis in Taiz Governorate.
Al-Houthi said that "there is no (internal) side that can be dialogued with," as part of the militia's attempts to link the war that it sparked by its coup against state institutions to the intervention of the Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen, and to show itself as a partner to the coalition and not to the Yemeni government.
The Houthis' explicit rejection of negotiations with the Yemeni government comes at a time when the international community and the United Nations have intensified their efforts to revive the armistice in Yemen, in preparation for the start of a new round of negotiations between the two parties (the government and the Houthis).
