The US Senate announced the postponement of a vote on a resolution on the war in Yemen, which would halt any US support or participation in this eight-year-old conflict.
Representatives of Democrats and Republicans in the US Congress had submitted a draft resolution to "stop the participation of US forces in any offensive actions in the Yemen war, and to freeze all military aid."
Observers believe that the postponement of a decision on this decision is due to an agreement with the Joe Biden administration, as the current circumstance does not seem appropriate to ratify it, especially with the threats made by the Houthi militia - the Iranian arm in Yemen - towards international navigation, which imposes international action to confront it. And on Tuesday, the Houthi militia threatened to take military measures if it approaches Yemeni territorial waters, hours after the Egyptian army announced that it would assume new international missions in the Red Sea, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden, through the leadership of the Joint Task Force.
This force includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Jordan and the United States, and its scope of work is concentrated in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden.
From the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, large numbers of international trade ships pass, which have been subjected in recent years to attacks described by the United States and Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE as "terrorist".
The international community fears that the Houthi militia will escalate in the region, threatening this vital road, in the context of its efforts to blackmail the legitimate authority and withdraw more concessions from it.
