The campaign launched by the Brotherhood leaders and their media escalated against the backdrop of the agreement signed by the government's Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari, on Thursday, with the UAE Minister of Justice - on behalf of the Minister of State for Defense Affairs - for military cooperation and combating terrorism between the two countries.
According to what was published by the official "Saba" agency, the agreement comes "in response to the desire of the two parties for mutual cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples and an affirmation of the importance that the two parties attach to maintaining security, peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen and in accordance with international agreements, customs, principles and decisions of international law in the field of combating Terrorism and security cooperation.
The Brotherhood, through its activists and media outlets, was quick to attack the agreement and spread allegations and lies about it, in the context of its continued hostility against the Emirati role in Yemen, although the agreement came after the visit of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, to the Emirates, and also in light of the presence of members of the Council in the Emirates.
The Brotherhood’s attack against the agreement reached an attempt to undermine its legitimacy and legality, as stated by the Brotherhood’s representative, Shawki Al-Qadi, who appeared in a video clip on his Facebook page, attacking the agreement and stressing that “signing agreements and treaties with any external party is illegal unless it is presented.” Parliament for approval," he said.
The Brotherhood’s attack against the agreement signed with the UAE, and the invocation of the provisions of the constitution in that regard, contradicts its position on the attempt of the former Minister of Transport, Saleh al-Jabwani, in late 2019, to sign suspicious agreements with Turkey without the knowledge of the legitimate government, which caused his ouster from office.
Al-Jabwani appeared in an interview with the Qatari "Al-Jazeera" channel, claiming that there are technical arrangements to sign an agreement with Turkey to develop Yemeni ports and airports, which prompted the government, through an official source, to authorize the official "Saba" agency to deny its work, indicating that Al-Jabwani's statements that came on the one hand His personal visit to Turkey is "irresponsible and did not refer to His Excellency the President and Prime Minister."
On the contrary, the Brotherhood at that time launched a violent and sharp attack against Prime Minister Maeen Abdel-Malik against the background of this statement, and it was absent from talking about the constitution and the law, as is done today by Deputy Shawky, the judge residing in Turkey, which reflects the extent of the political hypocrisy practiced by the Brotherhood in the name of the constitution and principles.
