"Fighting Terrorism and Smuggling"... With these simple words, Major General Mohsen Ali Marsed the people of Al-Mahra Governorate while officially receiving his new assignment in commanding the Al-Ghaydah Military Axis.

A strong message was sent by the first military official in Al-Mahra following frantic and double-blind campaigns against him by leaders and media outlets affiliated with the Brotherhood’s Islah Party and the Houthi militias - Iran’s arm in Yemen, after the decision to appoint him was issued by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi.

Major General Marsa stressed that the coming period will be difficult for the smuggling and terrorist gangs that exploit the Mahra governorate for their operations and movements over the past years, explaining that this goal will be accompanied by raising the capabilities of the members of the Ghaydah Axis forces in various aspects, in a way that contributes to maintaining security and stability within the governorate.

Statements that were not only for media appearances, as promoted by activists, leaders of the Islah party and its loyalists in the province. Only 24 hours after assuming his official duties in the leadership of the Ghaydah military axis on October 29, the Major General Marshaled with the Governor of Mahra Muhammad Ali Yasser chaired an expanded meeting that included military leaders  Security and general managers of the Shahn and Sarfeet ports and the port of Nishtun with the aim of regulating security and military work and tightening control over land and sea ports to counter smuggling operations.

Local sources in al-Mahra told NewsYemen that the meeting held by the commander of the Ghaydah axis and the governor of al-Mahra with officials at the land and sea ports was transparent and clear.  Where it was emphasized that the coming period will be important in strengthening security and military efforts to combat the dangerous scourge of smuggling whose name has been associated with the name of Mahra during the past years.

The sources confirmed that the leadership of the Ghaydah axis, after the assumption of Major General Mohsen Marsa’, will have great roles alongside the military police forces led by the man also in strengthening security and stability and confronting organized smuggling operations led by leaders loyal to the Islah Party and the Houthi militias.

The actions of the first military official in Al-Mahra angered the Brotherhood and the Houthi alliance, which takes the governorate as a vital outlet for arms and drug smuggling operations.

Brotherhood-Houthi fears emerged largely through the movements of the pro-Houthi Brotherhood leader in Mahra Ali Salem al-Huraizi, who came out with new statements to attack the Yemeni government and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to express his rejection of the recent moves and described them as a conspiracy against al-Mahra.  In reference to the appointment of a leader from outside the Brotherhood wing to lead the Ghaydah military axis.

Al-Hurayzi’s statements came within a meeting of Brotherhood leaders known for their association with the Houthis calling themselves the Peaceful Sit-in Committee in Al-Mahra.  As part of their scheme to slip into the chaos square in order to protect their interests and smuggle weapons to the Houthis, drugs and contraband.

Local sources in Al-Mahra confirmed that Al-Huraizi and his committee will play a paper spreading chaos to impede all moves aimed at combating smuggling and terrorism, and this was clearly demonstrated by the statements of the members of that committee, including Saeed Afari, Muhammad Barakat Samouda, and Muslim Ra’fat, who revealed the start of the establishment of formations affiliated with the committee in  The various directorates of Al-Mahra are emphasizing military action to achieve their goals.
