From Aden.. Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs: Yemen remains a top priority

The Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mrs. Joyce Msuya, held an extensive meeting with the Humanitarian Coordination Team in the capital, Aden, as part of her multi-day visit to Yemeni governorates.

Ms. Joyce Msuya discussed the humanitarian needs in Yemen, priorities and challenges, stressing that Yemen remains a top priority for the United Nations, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the humanitarian community in general.

According to a statement by the Office of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, the visit of the UN official, which will continue until October 15, comes as an affirmation of the commitment of the United Nations to Yemen, to learn about humanitarian needs and to hold interviews with relief partners and officials in Aden and Sana'a.

According to the statement, Ms. Msuya will meet with those affected, Yemeni officials, UN agencies, local and international NGOs to discuss urgent challenges and humanitarian solutions.  It will also visit sites hosting conflict-displaced people in Marib and Hodeidah to discuss the challenges they face.
