Aden, NewsYemen:

The official spokesman for the Houthi militia, Muhammad Abdulsalam, came out with a new statement about their main conditions for agreeing to the continuation of the UN truce, which was announced the failure to extend it for a third time the day before yesterday.

Abdulsalam, in a tweet on his Twitter page, said that he had received a phone call from the European Union Coordinator for Political Affairs Josep Borrell, and that he confirmed what he called their well-known position on the necessity of disbursing the salaries of all employees and pensioners and ending the arbitrary restrictions on the ports of Hodeidah and Sanaa airport.

However, the European Union, through a statement posted on its website, expressed deep disappointment at the inability to reach an agreement on extending the truce in Yemen, as proposed by the United Nations Special Envoy Hans Grundberg, describing the Houthis' intransigence and their refusal to extend the UN truce as extremist positions that did not facilitate international mission.

The European Union indicated that the recent UN armistice, which was announced in early April for a period of two months and was extended twice, provided very tangible benefits to millions of Yemenis.

He stressed that the proposal offers the possibility of significantly enhancing its impact, including the payment of civil servant salaries, additional flights to and from Sanaa, and unrestricted oil shipments by reopening the Hodeidah road and port, especially towards Taiz.

The European Union renewed its call on the Houthis to show a real commitment to peace, ease their demands, and engage constructively with the United Nations envoy, explaining that rejecting his proposal is a strategic mistake and not what the Yemenis want and do not deserve.
