Germany promises to increase its economic and humanitarian funds

Germany affirmed the support of the Presidential Leadership Council and the increase of German funds directed to the economic and humanitarian fields, and the continuation of coordinated efforts with the international community to revive the political process.

This came in the words of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during his meeting in Berlin today, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi.

The German chancellor also affirmed his country's keenness to achieve peace and stability, and to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.. He praised the response of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to efforts to establish peace.

According to the state-run Saba Agency, Al-Alimi and Shultz discussed the path of the UN armistice, violations of Iran's terrorist arm, and support for reforms led by the Presidential Council.

The meeting touched on the German and international role required to establish the ceasefire, and to compel the Houthi militias to fulfill their commitments under the UN declaration, especially the opening of roads to Taiz and other governorates, and the payment of employee salaries from the revenues of Hodeidah ports.

The two sides also reviewed areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries, opportunities for resuming the work of German development institutions, and supporting economic and service reforms led by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in various fields, according to the state-run Saba Agency.

Al-Alimi affirmed the commitment of the Council and the government to the approach of comprehensive and sustainable peace in accordance with the agreed references nationally, regionally and internationally, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding the violations of the humanitarian armistice by Iran, and its continuous refusal to deal with all peaceful efforts.

Meanwhile, the German chancellor expressed his hope to extend and expand the existing truce, and to build on it to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement and start serious negotiations that meet the interests and aspirations of all Yemenis.

On the sidelines of his visit, Al-Alimi met with German President Dr. Frank Steinmeier, who affirmed his country's commitment to the full support of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and international efforts to extend the truce and build on it to bring peace and stability to Yemen and end the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, expressing concern about the humanitarian and security conditions in Yemen and its various repercussions.

During his meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock, Al-Alimi discussed the developments in the Yemeni situation and efforts to bring peace and stability to the country, according to the state-run Saba Agency.

Al-Alimi stressed the Presidential Leadership Council’s reliance on the important role that Germany can play to support the council’s reforms, end the suffering of the Yemeni people, and achieve their aspirations to restore state institutions and its regional and international presence.

The German minister went on to stress her country's keenness to support the Presidential Leadership Council and to strengthen German development and humanitarian interventions in Yemen, stressing the importance of women and girls benefiting from the ongoing reforms, enabling them to learn and participate in peacebuilding.

On the sidelines of his ongoing visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council met the head of the Berghof Organization, Andrew Jermo, and the organization's team concerned with promoting opportunities for dialogue and supporting peaceful transitions around the world.

In the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council encouraged the Berghof Organization to double its role in building peace, and addressing the effects and repercussions of armed conflicts on social peace and civil coexistence.

He pointed to the importance of equitable approaches to the Yemeni crisis, its background and roots, and the position of the legitimate government on all regional and international initiatives aimed at restoring state institutions and enabling them to enjoy their exclusive powers, and their inherent right to monopolize force and law enforcement authority.
