The United States said, through its ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, on Wednesday, that the Houthi militia's goal is to expand the Iranian project in the region, stressing that the Houthi practices are supported by Tehran.
This came during a meeting with Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani, the US ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, according to the Yemeni news agency "Saba".
During the meeting, Fagin affirmed his country's support for the peace process in Yemen, opening the crossings that lead to and from Taiz, respecting the terms of the armistice, and continuing to support efforts to achieve peace in Yemen and stability in the region.
The US ambassador expressed his hope that the rapid efforts and developments would lead to peace in Yemen and the return of the legitimate authority, stressing the stability of the US position, which will not change towards maintaining the security, stability and unity of Yemen and ending the crisis.
While the US ambassador indicated that this is receiving attention at the highest levels in the US administration, he pointed out that what the Houthi militia has reached is Iranian support aimed at expanding the Iranian project through its illegal tools in the region.
