The terrorist Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, has intensified its recruitment operations in Mawiyah District, Taiz Governorate, which is under its control, in parallel with enhancing its penetration into society.

Local sources said that the Houthi militia is carrying out a wide recruitment and recruitment process for children, adolescents and youth in Mawiyah, in preparation for their transfer to secret camps in the governorates under its influence.

In parallel, the Houthi militia is exerting increasing pressure on the sheikhs loyal to it in the region, to push more children and youth to join its ranks.

According to the sources, the Houthis have recruited more than 200 children and young men from the "Mawiyah" district, during the last three months only, and transferred them to training camps in Dhamar and Hodeidah governorates.

The Houthi militia has engaged many fighters it had recruited in the past years from "Mawiyah" in its battles in the governorates of Ma'rib, Hodeidah and Taiz, and dozens of them were killed in battles with government forces and the joint forces.

serious threat

Ammar Abdel-Karim, one of the notables of the region, said in an exclusive interview with "NewsYemen", that the Mawiyah district is one of the areas in which the Houthis have penetrated the most forcefully in its society during the past years, noting that the militia has imposed its ideas on society in a large way.

Abdul Karim described the Houthi infiltration in this directorate of Taiz governorate as a serious threat to the social fabric, and to the cultural and intellectual identity of the people of "Mawiya", adding that the values and traditions of the society there lost their influence in front of the Houthi project and that the Houthi cultural, sectarian and military courses had their effects in this dangerous transformation.

Domination of the culture of death

Tawfiq Muhammad, who is from Mawiyah, spoke about the seriousness of the reality imposed by the Houthis in this district, including the involvement of many people in the region in the militia ranks and their receiving of sectarian cultural courses.

In an interview with "NewsYemen", Muhammad considered that the massive recruitment process in "Mawiyah" shows the extent to which the Houthis imposed their will on the local community there, with the facilitation and cooperation of the sheikhs of the region.

He said: It has become Maoism and with the presence of sheikhs cooperating with the Houthis, in return for personal interests that collapse further, the group created a wide presence in the social reality, and many young people chose to join its camps.  This is a huge risk."

Societal drift behind the Houthi project

In turn, Haitham Ali Al-Hajj says that the Mawiyah Directorate was a victim of a network of interests that made it pay a heavy price, especially with the involvement of many sheikhs in working with the Houthis and serving their intrusive project.

In his interview with NewsYemen, Haitham accused the region's notables of "cooperating with the Houthis in imposing their agenda, influencing society and deepening the alienation and loss of Mawiyah and its youth."

He added: The process of education and awareness against the Houthi tendencies seems to be non-existent.. There is a great deal of lethargy among the people, and there are those who have come to believe that the group is the most effective group in achieving justice, and this is a lie.

Haitham concluded by saying: The continuous recruitment by the Houthi group and its expansion within the Maoist community is a very dangerous issue, because the Houthis were able to penetrate the community, influence it, and separate it from the Taiz community, in order to embrace their ideas.
