This week, al-Qaeda issued a statement threatening the security belt forces in the Lauder district in Abyan governorate, calling on the tribes not to interfere. Before that, the terrorist organization threatened the Mudiyah belt forces with war and booby-traps.
These threats and the apparent spread of the organization in the central regions of Abyan come weeks after the security forces in the province announced the launch of a campaign to cleanse it of terrorism, with the participation of the Security Belt forces.
At the end of last June, the Abyan Security Department called on the Security Belt forces to participate in the campaign to purge Abyan of al-Qaeda elements, and the Security Belt Command confirmed its approval to participate and its full readiness to secure the province.
Meetings were held between the Security Command and the Security Belt in Shakra, Jaar and Sheikh Salem to arrange the operation, but recently these news stopped, amid questions about the reasons for stopping or delaying the operation.
Sources to Newsemen in the Abyan Security Department and the governorate belt confirmed that the security campaign is in place and will be implemented in the near future.
The sources said that there are arrangements being made to start the security campaign, and given the fact that there are large areas in the governorate where no security or military forces are present, and it has become a den of terrorism, the campaign needs to be arranged and organized to ensure its success.
The sources indicated that there are procedures and arrangements with the leadership of the Arab coalition for air participation in the campaign, which will be launched to secure the districts of Lauder, Mudiyah, Al-Wadaya and Al-Mahfad.
It explained that al-Qaeda elements that were present in the province of al-Bayda moved to Abyan after the fall of al-Bayda completely in the hands of the Houthi group, which makes it difficult for the campaign to take place in the urgent manner that everyone believes.
The sources assured the citizens of the proximity of salvation from the terrorist organizations that offended Abyan and turned it into a hotbed of terrorism.
