Aden, NewsYemen:

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on Friday welcomed the announced truce in Yemen, pointing out that it provides a real opportunity to resume the political process.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed his welcome to the announcement, indicating that there is now an opportunity to reach peace in Yemen.

And earlier on Friday, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced the response of the parties to the conflict in the country to a proposal for a two-month truce, which will enter into force today, Saturday.

The announced truce includes the cessation of all offensive military operations from the second of April to June 2, the entry of 18 ships of oil derivatives to the port of Hodeidah, the operation of two weekly commercial flights to Sanaa, and the operation of two weekly flights from Sanaa to Egypt and Jordan.

The office of the UN envoy said, in a statement, that the parties to the conflict in Yemen agreed to meet under his auspices to open roads in Taiz and other governorates in Yemen, and that "the truce can be renewed after a period of two months with the consent of the parties."

The statement indicated that Grundberg plans to use these two months to intensify work with the parties with the aim of reaching a permanent ceasefire, addressing urgent economic and humanitarian measures, and resuming the political process.

The international envoy called on the Yemeni parties to fully abide by and respect the truce and its elements, and to take all necessary steps to implement it immediately.
