On Wednesday, the United States imposed financial sanctions on suppliers of Iran's ballistic missile program, following an attack in Iraqi Kurdistan claimed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia.
US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Brian Nelson said in a statement that these measures show that the United States "will not hesitate to target those who support Iran's ballistic missile program," despite Washington's efforts to reach a settlement with Iran regarding reviving the agreement on its nuclear program.
The US Treasury confirmed that the sanctions targeted an individual and his network of companies for providing assistance to Iran's ballistic missile program.
It said that Mohammad Ali Hosseini, a purchasing agent based in Iran, purchased with these companies materials related to ballistic missile propulsion for a unit of the terrorist "Revolutionary Guard" responsible for research and development of ballistic missiles.
The treasury added that the sanctions also target the Iranian company, "Parshin" for chemical industries.
