Al-Zubaidi: The southern issue is the entrance to a comprehensive solution in Yemen

 The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, affirmed the council's keenness to deal positively with all diplomatic initiatives and efforts aimed at stopping the war and achieving peace and stability in Yemen.

This came during his meeting with the Swedish Special Envoy to Yemen Peter Semneby in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

Al-Zubaidi pointed to the Transitional Council's openness to all peace initiatives and regional, international and international mediation efforts, according to the official website of the Council.

He stressed the necessity of placing the southern issue as a priority in any future consultations, as it is the main basis for resolving all crises and thorny issues in Yemen.

 He said that placing the southern issue "at the forefront of regional and international efforts will ensure Yemen's exit from all severe crises that are nothing more than mere repercussions of the interactions of this central issue."

Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to take into account the representation of the parties and forces during any prospective peace negotiations, in accordance with the reality on the ground and the actors on the ground.

For his part, the Swedish envoy affirmed his country's support for peace efforts led by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and its keenness to end the conflict and establish security and stability.
