Abyan, NewsYemen:

For the third day in a row, al-Qaeda affiliated elements continue to kidnap the employees of a United Nations organization, including two foreigners, in addition to two groups of the Military Police who were accompanying the delegation in Abyan governorate.

The kidnapping took place in the Khedira area in the central region, which has been controlled by forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood for more than two years.

The terrorist organization transferred the kidnapped to the Wadi Omran area, east of Mudiyah District.

According to the sources, a tribal mediation intervened to release the kidnapped after the forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood repudiated their duties and the terrorist elements set their conditions for releasing the kidnapped.

A source in the tribal mediation delegation conveyed to NewsYemen the conditions of the extremist elements to release the kidnapped.

The source said that al-Qaeda elements demanded a sum of one million Saudi riyals and the release of detainees for the organization in Aden.

The source indicated that the mediation committee informed the pro-Brotherhood forces of the Shuqra axis of the terms of the organization, noting that the leadership in Shuqra did not respond clearly despite its agreement to pay the amount.

Until the moment, according to the source, everyone is still waiting for a response from the Shuqra axis leadership.

Citizens in Abyan denounced the kidnapping, which affected an organization team that was trying to provide aid to the population in the Abyan areas.

They expressed their astonishment at the silence of the Shuqra axis and its lack of intervention, and it is he who has the responsibility to protect the travelers, delegations and organizations in the region because they are under his control, and he must clearly intervene to release them, whether by negotiation or by force.

Citizens feared that this operation would be indirect support for extremist groups with money, which move naturally in these areas before the eyes of the Brotherhood forces, and in many cases even use their camps and crews.
