Sanaa as you have never seen it before.. this is how it became the capital of Yemen in the time of Houthi devastation
English - Monday 15 November 2021 الساعة 02:39 pmA recent video clip, a citizen living in Sanaa, showed through the lens of his mobile phone, the extent of the catastrophe that befell Yemen's first metropolis, in light of the years of Houthi devastation.
The video documents an aspect of the misery and loneliness that has become overshadowed by the most important neighborhoods and streets in the city, which were blazing with life and movement before the Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, took control of the city.
The video, which was published by activist Abd Rabbo al-Awlaki, on his account on "Facebook", shows that Sana'a has turned into a dark ghost city full of thieves who control everything, and the homeless and hungry people on the sidewalks of the streets.
The citizen’s phone lens did not find what it captured, during his evening tour in his car in the vicinity of the old university in the center of Sana’a, other than faint features of misery, hungry people lying on sidewalks covered in darkness and garbage, and pictures of many of the dead crucified on lampposts and walls, and the Houthi death cry slogans are broadcast in everywhere.
Commenting on the video, Al-Awlaki wrote: "I did not believe one of the brothers from Sana'a after he heard me. I remember her with nostalgia for her days and I remember many years I spent there... I did not believe him when he said to me: O Abu Nawaf, "Sana'a is not the Sanaa that you used to know... Sana'a has changed a lot." Sana'a has become bleak and lonely, and you can see the worry and grief visible on the features of those inside it."
He added, "But this video, which was filmed in one lane of it, proved the truth of his words to me."
