Al-Ahmar and Al-Maqdashi.. A miserable media appearance of tools for tampering with the Yemeni battle against Al-Houthi

Marib, NewsYemen, Private:

Within less than one week, the first and second man responsible for the military file within the legitimacy appeared in media interviews in conjunction with the approaching threat of the Houthi militia to the city of Marib and the oil and gas fields due to a suspicious fall of the legitimate fronts across three governorates.

The heat of the military scene in Marib, gave importance and anticipation to the appearance of the Vice President of the Republic, General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, and the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Muhammad Ali al-Maqdashi, to the media, in search of an answer or explanation for what the legitimate fronts were recently exposed to, and in search of real messages of reassurance about the fate of  The battle in Ma'rib.

However, the outcome of Al-Ahmar's two-page appearance in the Saudi newspaper, "Okaz", and the appearance of Al-Maqdashi for an hour on the "Yemen Today" channel, was far from that, in a way that provoked indignation and ridicule against them.

The horrific collapse on the legitimate fronts, from Al-Bayda to Bayhan Shabwa to Harib Marib, is not a “normal hit-and-run operation for any battle,” says Al-Maqdashi, who claims that the army forces achieved victories in return on other fronts, including the control of an area of 100 square kilometers in  Al-Jawf, he said.

While al-Ahmar acknowledges the regression that took place from Nihm to Ma'rib, he says that "attempting to convict one person and hold him responsible for what happened is illogical," referring to the accusations leveled against him for what happened as he is responsible for the military file within the legitimacy.

In an attempt to mitigate the horror of the military retreat, both al-Ahmar and al-Maqdashi sought justifications for this by exaggerating the capabilities of the Houthi militia and the amount of support it receives from Iran.

Al-Maqdashi focused on the fact that the Houthi group inherited all the armaments of the Yemeni army and weapons stores, and listed the types of tanks and armored vehicles that were in the possession of the Republican Guard forces, while al-Ahmar said that the legitimate forces do not face the Houthi militia, but rather face “military plans supervised by mercenary experts, and multiple weapons.”  They supply it without interruption, through wide smuggling corridors.

The exaggeration of the Houthi force carries with it an implicit accusation of the absence of any support from the coalition for the Legitimacy Army for 6 years, which has become like a fact that has been repeated in the media of the Muslim Brotherhood and on the lips of its symbols and activists, most of whom are close to the deputy and minister and some of their close entourage.

This is what the deputy and minister alerted to by filling their speech with familiar phrases of praise for the support of the coalition countries, represented by Saudi Arabia, about which Al-Ahmar said, “We are with them, and they are with us. Our blood and theirs bled on the battlefield.”  It contributed to the battles to liberate Marib, Aden, and other areas.

And about the fate of the battle in Marib, the deputy and minister’s speech did not go out of the repeated constructional phrases in the official talk of the legitimacy and its media, by talking about “the determination and steadfastness of the fighters and confidence in victory” and that “the end of the Houthis will be on the walls of Marib,” says Al-Maqdashi.

What is remarkable about the two men’s dialogue is the omission of providing real assurances about the fate of the battle in Marib by jumping towards the “battle to restore Sana’a,” which al-Maqdashi affirmed that he is “more optimistic about it now than at any other time,” while al-Ahmar asserts that “the (legitimate) state is absent, but it has not died.  And Sanaa will be shining again, and we will return, and the enemy will be defeated, God willing.”
