Aden, NewsYemen:

The US State Department announced that the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, and the Chargé d'Affairs of the US Embassy in Yemen, Kathy Westley, met with the Yemeni Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Governor of Aden on Monday.

In a statement, the ministry stated that Linderking and Westley met during their visit to Aden with Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik Saeed, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed bin Mubarak, the Governor of Aden, and other senior government officials and representatives of Yemeni civil society.

It pointed out that this visit comes at a time when Yemenis are suffering from severe economic instability and security threats, pointing out that Special Envoy Lenderking stressed that the time has come for all Yemenis to gather to end this war and adopt bold reforms to revive the economy, combat corruption and alleviate suffering.

For her part, Westley stressed that the United States welcomes the commitment of the Prime Minister and supports the government's presence in Yemen, stressing that the government must do more to enact reforms that will help alleviate the suffering caused by the war.

The US delegation urged the Yemeni government to continue strengthening internal coordination, including with the Southern Transitional Council and other groups, because the division weakens all parties and only exacerbates the suffering.

During their talks, the US delegation and the Yemeni government discussed the Houthi attack on Marib, which exacerbates the humanitarian situation and impedes peace.

The US State Department also called on regional and other countries to increase economic support for Yemen, stressing that improving basic services and economic opportunities is an important step to build a stronger foundation for peace.

It noted that this visit shows that the United States remains committed to helping Yemenis shape a brighter future for their country.
