The deputy head of the media department in the Southern Transitional Council, Mansour Saleh, described what is happening in Shabwa as “a popular movement rejecting the Houthi expansion in the province, which is evidently taking place through clear understandings and coordination between the Brotherhood and the rebels.”
Saleh added, in a statement published by Al-Arab newspaper, "The citizens and honorable people of the military and security establishment expressed their rejection of the deals to hand over Shabwa to the Houthi militia, and today they are calling for accountability for those who caused the fall of three districts in the hands of the Houthis without resistance. They also demanded to save the province, organize its resistance and preserve the unity of the social fabric“.
He continued, "What is unfortunate is that, in light of this difficult circumstance that the governorate is going through, its local authority and its military and security arms, instead of extending their hands to the living forces opposed to the Houthi project, have turned into a first line of defense for it."
