Permanent members: The Yemeni people need a real commitment to peace

 The ambassadors of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council to Yemen called on all parties to the Yemeni conflict to commit to a real commitment to peace and to work with the UN envoy without preconditions.

 This came in a joint statement by the ambassadors of Russia, China, the United States, Britain and France to Yemen, and the US Special Envoy, after their meeting with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg.

 "We fully support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg, to find an end to the conflict in Yemen," the ambassadors said.

 In their statement, they called on all parties to deal with Grundberg directly, constructively, and without preconditions.

 "After seven years of war, the Yemeni people need a real commitment to peace on all sides," the statement added.
