Sana'a, NewsYemen, private:

Until recently, the central prison in the capital, Sana'a, performs its work as any competent body that has its own administration affiliated to the Prisons Authority and linked to the Ministry of Interior and Security.

With the Houthi takeover of the joints of the state, the central prison was one of the most important areas on which the militia focused and turned it into a large prison.

Iran’s arm was able to legitimize many of its crimes, as many detainees were subjected to lengthy interrogations, torture to the point of death, and enforced disappearance in secret prisons before they ended up in the central prison.

Creating secret prisons

Fawzia Ahmed Ali.  One of the employees in the prison told "Newsmen", she worked in the two Sana'a centers for nearly 18 years as the head of the women's section, and after the entry of the Houthis, the powers were gradually withdrawn from us.

add.  After the killing of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the situation changed completely, as they created a special prison, including a secret prison, inside the same center to receive women's cases without any papers, files, or even routine procedures.

She also indicated that the place that was designated as secret prisons was originally classrooms, sewing laboratories, embroidery and handicrafts, a nursery for children, a language, computer and literacy center, all of which are under their supervision.

In the same context, Fawzia confirms that all these activities were stopped and they started replacing the "Zeinabiyat" as guards, because the situation has changed and the new cases have a special status because they are detainees and charges have been framed against them, not criminal cases.

 big prison

Many fathers and mothers have lost relatives, especially girls. During the last five years, after days and months of research, they discovered that they were in the central prison, and these cases had serious repercussions on their future and their relationship to society, especially girls.

Fawzia says.  After turning those classrooms and halls into detention centers that no one can approach except for new female employees who have been carefully recruited and chosen. With the passage of time, some parents began to frequent the prison in search of those who had gone missing, and some news began to leak out, which resulted in us being suspended from work and held accountable, which prompted us to search for a way out afterwards.

She says, "First of all, we were forced to rehabilitate the Zengirls who are supposed to take our place, and many employees of both sexes were dispensed with after the prison turned into a large prison, especially for women whose stories we heard through reports and press investigations."

 killed under torture

The Central Prison was used as a destination for all inmates with criminal cases;  According to the submitted reports, this prompted the militia to fabricate charges of trafficking in contraband, including hashish and narcotics, as well as charges of prostitution, to all opponents who were arrested, especially women.

The matter developed into a regular occurrence, and the latest victim of this trend was Bint Al Hammadi, a model and actress, she and her friend, who were arrested and accused of prostitution and drug trafficking.

Many cases, according to Fawzia Ahmed, were tortured to death and reports were raised that they committed suicide, and their relatives were blackmailed that if they said anything about the events, indecent photos and videos would be published.

This is a simple summary of the crimes of the Iranian-led militia in Yemen, and how it turned a government department into a prison for torture and abuse of Yemeni men and women.
