Aden, NewsYemen:

Foreign academics and researchers specializing in the affairs of extremist jihadist groups confirmed that the Houthi militia had falsified a statement attributed to Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, talking about the participation of the organization’s elements in the battles of Al-Zaher and Al-Sowma’a against the Houthi militia.

On Saturday, Dr. Elizabeth Kendall published a picture of the statement attributed to Al-Qaeda, saying, "The alleged statement of Al-Qaeda claiming to lead the fight against the Houthis in Al-Bayda is fake" (or at best a rogue defector).

The researcher in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Pembroke College at Oxford University gave the reasons for ruling the statement as false, most notably: that it contradicts the numbering of the data after 2017, and that the header of the database data since 9/2020 appears in gray and there is no Gregorian date parallel to the Hijri, and the statement was not issued through official channels  For organization, and the statement is omitted in the appendix, in addition to the writing style of the statement is different.

On a large scale, news websites affiliated with the Houthi militia and its activists on social media reported the statement and attributed it to the organization of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula - al-Bayda province, to confirm that their forces are fighting on the al-Zaher and al-Soma’ fronts, not the tribesmen and the giants’ forces.

For his part, Yemeni affairs researcher Joshua Counts confirmed Kendall's statement that the statement was forged, and Joshua said that an account of a supporter of the organization denied the validity of an alleged statement by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula dated July 8 about al-Bayda's operations.  He shared a picture with a bold "forgery" written on it.

Kountes added: accounts loyal to the Houthis circulated this statement during the past day, indicating that there was no official comment from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula regarding this statement.
