US President Joe Biden announced the extension of the state of emergency in Yemen, until next year, for the tenth time.
The White House attributed the extension of the decision under Executive Order No. 13611, pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, to the need to deal with an unusual threat to national security and US foreign policy.
In a statement, he explained that the current situation in Yemen is: It was formed from actions and policies that threaten the peace, security and stability of Yemen, including obstructing the political process
He stressed that the actions and policies of former members and ministers in the Yemeni government represent a threat to peace.
