Brigadier General Tariq Saleh discusses with the British ambassador the vision of the "joint forces" to release the prisoners

 The Leader of the National Resistance, Head of the Political Bureau, Brigadier General Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Saleh, discussed, on Monday May 10, 2021, the British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aaron, the overall developments on the Yemeni arena.

The meeting, which was held via a closed circuit television, discussed the faltering peace efforts due to the continued intransigence of the Houthi militia and its rejection of all calls and initiatives for calm, the latest of which was the initiative presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen.

The British ambassador affirmed the international consensus to support the efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen, with the aim of reaching a permanent ceasefire, and for the Yemeni parties to sit at the dialogue table to reach a political solution.

During the meeting, the leader of the National Resistance condemned the crime committed by the Houthi militia, last Saturday, after they planted an explosive device on Al-Jah Al-Duraihimi Road, south of Hodeidah, which exploded in a car carrying one of the families, killing 3 and wounding 6 others, most of them children.

The meeting reviewed the humanitarian situation in the directorates of the West Coast, and the efforts made by the National Resistance to improve basic services, alleviate the human suffering of the citizens, and support displacement camps and displaced persons, in coordination with the government and local authorities.

The initiative launched by the joint forces to inform the International Red Cross of its readiness to release all its prisoners and hand them over to the Red Cross was also discussed, in accordance with the principle of all for all.


In his turn, the British ambassador praised the cooperation of the National Resistance and the joint forces and the facilitation of the work of international organizations working in the field of humanitarian relief in the districts of the West Coast in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.
