The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, raided the gate of the Mall of Arabia Mall in Sanaa city last night, after the mall’s owners refused to pay monetary royalties to the group.
Eyewitnesses confirmed to (News Yemen) the Houthi militia’s destruction of the gate of Mall of Arabia Mall, located in the Beit Boss area, Khamisen Street, using a bulldozer mechanism (Sheol), under the pretext of a store billboard that the Houthi militia claimed was a violation.

Mall workers told (NewsYemen) that the militias initially requested an amount of 5 million riyals from the administration of the mall, as a disciplinary fine for the alleged violation, noting that the mall administration refused to respond to the Houthi blackmail and pay the amount, before security patrols came and armed with a bulldozer to demolish the gate and the advertising sign.
Earlier, a member of the so-called Supreme Political Council of the Houthis accused the leader of the group, Sultan Al-Sama’i, officials and supervisors of his group of plundering merchants and owners of stalls.
It is noteworthy that the Mall of Arabia was opened in Sana'a in 2014, as part of the private sector investment projects that contribute to reviving the Yemeni economy and creating job opportunities for the youth sector.
