Mocha, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

On Sunday, the security authorities in Mocha seized the owners of five gas stations, after the expiration of the period specified for their removal from popular neighborhoods outside the city, without complying with them.

The Director of Industry and Trade, Munir Al-Ariqi, told NewsYemen that the seizure of the owners of the stations came because they did not commit to removing gas filling stations away from residential neighborhoods according to the specified deadline.

He added that the local council issued a memorandum for the security forces to arrest them and not release them except after taking a written commitment to remove the stations outside residential neighborhoods by an estimated 1,000 meters, in accordance with the law regulating the operation of gas stations.

He explained that the presence of gas tanks in the middle of the housing stock poses great risks to the lives and properties of the residents, and that the local authority is determined to remove that danger.

He stressed that the West Coast Station began to transfer its contents outside the city after the local authority showed determination to address this problem.

Al-Ariqi called for each station to be 500 meters away from the other when being transported outside the city.

The Bureau of Industry and Trade had granted, two weeks ago, the owners of the stations, a time period set at fifteen days to remove them from the city center, in order to avoid fatal accidents.
