Marib, NewsYemen:

Democratic US Senator Chris Coons and 15 members of the Senate called on the Houthi militias and the Iranian regime that supports them to stop the attacks on Marib and stop the destruction and sabotage of Yemen.

In a joint statement, they said that the Houthis and their supporters in the Iranian government should stop the attack on Marib and avoid unjustified death and the exacerbation of the humanitarian catastrophe.

"In 2018, the international community called on the Saudi-led coalition to stop the plans to attack the city of Hodeidah because of its enormous humanitarian implications, and fortunately those calls were responded to, and we avoided a mass starvation that occurred in Yemen," said the statement, which was published by Senator Kunz on his Twitter account.

He said, "Today, the Houthis are the ones who risk unleashing a new humanitarian catastrophe on 3 million people in Marib, where the vast majority of them are internally displaced people who have sought refuge in the city or nearby camps, and now we call on Houthi leaders and their supporters in the Iranian government to stop the attack on Marib and avoiding unnecessary death and destruction that could prolong battles.

The statement added, "We urge all parties to agree to a ceasefire in all parts of Yemen and to start political negotiations to end the war."
