Mokha, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

On Sunday, the Director of the Tourism and Culture Bureau in the Mokha District called on the National Mine Action Program to conduct a survey of the Mokha Corniche, to ensure that it is clear of mines.

Dr. Jalal Mansour told NewsYemen, that the Houthi militia planted large quantities of mines in Mokha, before they were expelled by the joint forces.

He added that the chances are that the Corniche contain anti-armor mines, pointing that the explosion of a landmine in 2019 was by its own due to extreme heat factors.

He explained that the road on which the mine exploded, on the beach, was taken by hundreds of vehicles for a long time.

He indicated that the Houthi militia planted it a meter deep, in the middle of the soil, a weight that gives the belief that the mine will not explode in any of the vehicles that crossed it.

He stressed that conducting a comprehensive survey of the corniche gives safety to beachgoers without fear of mines from the Houthi militia.

On Saturday, an engineering team affiliated with the National Mine Action Program carried out a comprehensive survey of the Mokha Hospital building and its adjacent buildings, to ensure that they are free of mines.

The survey took place after workers conducting maintenance on a building adjacent to the Al-Mokha General Hospital, on December 23, found an explosive device left over from the Houthi militia, which was placed on the floor of the first floor of the building.

The Houthi militia planted explosive devices and mines in public places and buildings, and turned the western coast into the largest minefield in the world, by planting about two million mines.

These mines caused about 1,200 casualties during the years following the liberation of seven coastal directorates.
