Rajeh Bakrit, the former governor of Mahra, demanded that the declaration of the so-called "Hadramout region" be reversed, threatening legitimacy with harsh options.
Bakrit said: "By unilaterally declaring the region of the so-called Hadramout without referring to the parties as imposing a fait accompli, we in Mahra and Socotra are in a solution to this, and we are free to declare our independent region."
He added, "We in Mahra and Socotra are an integral part of the south, and unless the so-called" Hadramout region "is retreated, the people of the two governorates have other options that may be harsh and unpredictable on the legitimacy, and they will be announced later and we will not be dependent.
The former governor of Al-Mahra continued: "We will not be subordinate to anyone after today, regardless of the challenges ... The approach to the choice of the region of Mahra and Socotra has become a fait accompli imposed by customs, traditions, geography, history and identity, and we will have what we wanted in the end, and we have said it before."
