Cairo, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

From Moscow to Malaysia and China, through India, Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, then Cuba, Pakistan, Turkey, Germany and Poland, thousands of students remain for the second year in a row without dues and for the third year without tuition fees.

The students did everything possible, from protests and sit-ins, to issuing statements and appeals through all means of communication and the media, hoping to draw the attention of those concerned in the government to their difficult situations.

President of the Association of Yemeni Universities Delegates and Scholarships in Malaysia M.  Hussam Al-Dais, commented on the matter: It is shameful to hear experts' reports talking about $ 500 million in corruption and money laundering, while we are students around the world. Our annual dues do not reach 5% for this amount.

He told "NewsYemen": When will the government be ashamed, we have entered the threshold of the second year, with no dues or tuition fees, and then we read a statement that puts ashes on the eyes that (a quarter) of an orphan will be spent and the rest will be treated.

Al-Dais indicated that this is not the core of the government's work and function.  These are just fallacies that all concerned parties bear, from the president of the republic to the prime minister, parliament, and even ambassadors.

Al-Dais summed up the most important demands: Spending one quarter is not enough, in light of the delay in dues for a whole year by four quarters, and adding “tuition fees” for two years, which resulted in the arrest and dismissal of many students.

The Corona pandemic phase should be excluded from the legal delegation period, due to the obstacles it caused that directly affected students.

The legal allowance for books, field research and printing has not been disbursed for a period of 5 years, and return tickets have not been disbursed for graduates and the resulting suffering due to the dropping of their names.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for the Scholarships Sector, Mazen Al-Jafri, announced yesterday, Monday, that the transfer of scholarships' entitlements for the second quarter of 2020 will start.

He added that the scholarships sector has completed the preparation of the third quarter of 2020 AD and the study fees 2019/2020 AD to reduce the time period between the due date of the quarter and the expected date for its delivery.

Regarding this, Al-Dais stressed that this speech is the same one being published every time, only the date of the statement and some vocabulary are changed, although our demands are clear and there is no justification for this evasion and delay.

Sudanese students .. difficult situations

For their part, Sudanese delegates announced an open sit-in inside the embassy in Khartoum until their dues are fully paid.

A short video showed a group of the sit-in students, confirming that they had reached the stage of no return and that they had transferred kitchen tools to the embassy and would not move until their dues were dismissed.

Walid Al-Ewaa, a graduate student, stated that the suffering of scholarship students has reached a dangerous stage that is no longer tolerated, and that the promises made by the concerned authorities from time to time are not serious or responsible.

According to the details received from the students sent to Sudan, they share the same demands and sufferings with their colleagues in the rest of the capitals of the countries, and they made the same attempts without benefit.

Students abroad depend a lot on the media of all kinds in making their voices heard in the world.  Al-Dais says, "We appreciate the role of the media and the press, which give students the hope of continuing, stressing that there are parties who are victorious for them," he said.

It is worth noting the intention of the scholarships, in the event this situation continues, to file a lawsuit against all those responsible for the suffering of those sent abroad, especially since some were attacked and summoned the police, as happened repeatedly in the Yemeni embassy in Russia.
