The director of the National Bank of Yemen, Dr. Muhammad Hussein Halboub, described the board of directors of the Central Bank of Yemen, as "taxi drivers flying a plane."

Dr. Halboub’s speech came as a comment on a leaflet on the astronomical salaries that the governors of the Central Bank of Yemen receive.

And the doctor at the University of Sanaa, Muhammad Al-Salmi, said in a post on his Facebook account that the governor of the Central Bank of Yemen receives 40 thousand dollars a month.

Dr. Al-Salmi wrote: "The salary of the central bank manager is 40 thousand dollars a month, and is equal to the salaries of more than 400 university lecturers with master's degrees."

He pointed out that it is higher than the salary of the US president, adding: "As for the salary of the Chinese president, who leads the second economy in the world, it is 22 thousand dollars a year."

He continued: "The salaries of ministers, deputies and agents are all very large salaries and in dollars, while the salaries of the functional apparatus that are no longer worth anything are cut, and the people have been crushed by poverty, and they no longer find anything that enters their stomachs, even in trash barrels."
