The Yemeni riyal has lost 250% of its value during the past five years, while the prices of food commodities have increased by 140%, according to the United Nations.

The United Nations World Food Program stated, in a tweet, that "the years of war in Yemen have led to the local currency losing 250% of its value.

The UN program stressed that daily life is getting more difficult for millions of people trapped in the Yemeni crisis, noting that the scope of food aid has expanded from one million people to 13 million people now.

It is reported that there are fears that the riyal will surpass the 1,000 against the dollar if the collapse continues in this way, and there are no urgent rescue plans.
