Aden, NewsYemen:

Al-Arab newspaper reported that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs began opening communication channels with various Yemeni political components, headed by the General People's Congress Party.

The newspaper said, in a report published on Saturday, that the Turkish Foreign Ministry is organizing virtual meetings and workshops via the Internet, confirming that Ankara's interest in the Yemeni issue has entered a new phase, and its repositioning awaits the maturity of favorable conditions that allow direct intervention through the portal of the Brotherhood and the Qatari movement in “legitimacy”.

According to Al-Arab, Turkish contacts with the Yemeni forces included leaders in the General People's Congress Party and the Southern Movement, and other active components in the scene usually classified as hostile to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Qatari-Turkish axis.

It considered that what is new in Turkish activity in the Yemeni crisis is Ankara’s endeavor to open up to the various forces and political components, after communication was limited to the Brotherhood's Islah Party, whose president, Muhammad al-Yadumi, has been in Istanbul for nearly two months, according to the sources.

It pointed out that the remarkable increase in Turkish activity in Yemen is an indication of Ankara's desire to play an upcoming role in the Yemeni file, which goes beyond its traditional role, which was limited over the past years to providing media and logistical support to the Muslim Brotherhood and intelligence movement behind the fronts of humanitarian and relief work.
