Aden, NewsYemen:

A prominent leader in the Southern Transitional Council considered, on Tuesday, that the military escalation by the Muslim Brotherhood militia in Abyan Governorate, in southern Yemen, is an extension of its attempts to obstruct the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council, Fadl Al-Jaadi, said during his meeting on Tuesday in the capital, Aden, the Director of the Office of the United Nations Envoy to Yemen, Marwan Al-Ali, that the leadership of the transitional is keen to ensure the success of the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

He emphasized that the continued intransigence in implementing the agreement on the part of the other party (the legitimacy) is what hinders progress in achieving it, and this is evident in the military escalation and the movements carried out by the Brotherhood militia in Abyan.

He pointed out that the Transitional Council places the humanitarian aspects at the top of its priorities, denying the validity of the rumors spread on social media that there is a prohibition by the Transitional Council and the southern armed forces from the passage of any wounded through the southern territories.

According to the transitional website, during the meeting, developments in the political process, the mechanism for implementing the Riyadh Agreement and the formation of the government according to the agreement, as well as developments in the field situation were discussed.

The director of the UN envoy’s office stressed the importance of implementing the Riyadh Agreement, and the need to quickly form the government, explaining that communication exists between the office of the international envoy and all parties in this regard.

Al-Ali concluded by saying, "Consultations are continuing to reach a final solution to the crisis and work to develop a comprehensive solution to stop the war."
